Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship

We have great news for the young members of the Hungarian community of Ottawa. A call for applications for the Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship for the 2023/2024 academic year has been published.
The Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship was established by the Hungarian Government for those who live in a Hungarian diaspora outside of Europe and wish to study at a Hungarian higher education institution to develop their personal, professional and cultural relations to Hungary.
The holder of a Diaspora Scholarship can receive an internationally recognized degree at a top-level Hungarian higher education institution and acquire highly competitive knowledge to advance both personally and academically. You can choose from a wide range of programs taught in Hungarian that cover all higher education fields at all degree levels.

European Union Film Festival 2022

Great news for the film lovers in Canada: the European Union Film Festival has returned to live, in-person screenings for its 2022 edition, from November 17 through December 3. For this 37th edition, the organizers are presenting 27 films from all 27 European Union member states.
This year, Hungary is participating with the film “TOXIKOMA” directed by Gábor Herendi, and Áron Molnár in the leading role of actor Győző Szabó.
The movie screening will be at 7:00 pm on 24th of November 2022 (English subtitles are available) with introductory remarks by H.E. Mária Vass-Salazar, Ambassador of Hungary. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Hungarian actor, Győző Szabó.

For the third time in the long history of the EUFF, the three film organizations in Canada (in Ottawa, Vancouver, and Toronto), along with the Delegation of the European Union to Canada and the EU Member States are offering an online edition of the EUFF from November 18 through December 9., albeit not all the films will be available online.

1956 – National Day Reception And Concert

October 23, the day of the outbreak of the revolution in 1956 and the day of the proclamation of the Republic of Hungary in 1989, is a double national holiday for the Hungarian people.
On this occasion, the Ambassador of Hungary to Canada, Her Excellency Mária Vass-Salazar will hold a festive reception at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre on Monday, October 24 at 6:30, followed by a chamber music performance from 7:30. In the program, the artists of the internationally renowned Kelemen Quartet will perform string quartets from Brahms and Bartók.
