St. Nicholas in the OHCC – Dances

On the third of December St. Nicholas has arrived at the Ottawa Hungarian Community Centre. The Youth Dance Group helped to pass the time while the children, parents and spectators waited for his arrival. The dancers were prepared by Dóra Nagy, a fellow of the Sándor Kőrösi Csoma Program. Thank you, Dóra!

The Three Kings – Excerpts from the concert

The “Three Kings” trio gave a very successful concert in the Ottawa Hungarian Community Centre. Unfortunately we can not reproduce the whole programme here but you are invited to watch a few excerpts from the concert. Youth Concert

The Ottawa Hungarian Community Centre organized a concert for young people. The audience listened to music writen for piano, violin, trombone and voice. After the concert Magdi Tóth asked the participants about their musical studies.

Interview with Father Csaba Böjte

On the 15th of November Father Csaba Böjte visited the Ottawa Hungarian Community Centre. He is the founder of an orphanage-chain in Transylvania. He was interviewed by Magdi Tóth.

László Bálint Interview

On November 15 László Bálint, the president of the Benefit Organization of Hungarians in Transylvania visited the Ottawa Hungarian Community Centre and presented an exhibition describing the activities of the organization. He was asked about his work and goals by Magdi Tóth.

November 4 – Commemoration

On the 5th of November representatives of the Ottawa Hungarian community unveiled the cross replacing the original one that was the first memorial of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. After the ceremonies the participants laid flowers at the monument on Maple Island as well.

The Ceramics of Mária Moldován

The 260 Fingers Ceramic Arts exhibition opened on November 11 in the Glebe Community Centre.  Mária Moldován was invited for the first time to display her works at the event. Here you can see her ceramic compositions and listen to a short interview with her.

On the 22nd of October the Ottawa Hungarian Community Centre commemorated the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. The guests were greeted by president Dr.Tibor Lapohos. Dr. Bálint Ódor, Hungarian ambassador spoke about the significance of the revolution then veterans László Farkas and József Polgár shared some of their memories with the audience. The feature presentation was performed by Péter Lóránt Tóth, who appeared for the second time in Ottawa. We show here the complete  programme.
