About the Performer

Attila Zsapka was born in Štúrovo (Hungarian: Párkány), a town in Slovakia, situated opposite the Hungarian city of Esztergom on the banks of the Danube river.
In his own words: “…I was six years old when I watched A Hard Day’s Night by the Beatles on television. From then on, I wanted to be a guitar soloist. Soon after that, I got my first guitar, and it’s been going on ever since.

As a teenager, I played in several shorter and longer-lived bands, and in 1989, my cousin Zsolt Zsapka and I founded the Kor-Zár poetry ensemble, which is still active today.
In 2005, I decided that in addition to Kor-Zár, I would also perform on individual level. My primary goal was to be able to regularly perform in Slovakian schools where the teaching language is Hungarian, popularizing the genre of sung poetry among the students. In the beginning, I visited the Highlands alone, accompanied by my guitar, and since then I have found friends and fellow musicians for all of this. School concerts usually have a great atmosphere and we get a lot of positive feedback…
