SUMMARY:The 39th Anniversary of the OHCC
DESCRIPTION:(Founded on July 3rd\, 1981)\n[caption id="" align="alignleft"
width="120"]The LePage ad in 1981[/caption]The home of the Hungarian commu
nity in Ottawa was built in 1979. The 279 m2 (3000 sq.ft.) building was ra
 ised on a 30\,5 m × 53\,3 m (100 ft × 175 ft) size land. It was made of
concrete bricks\, and originally it was used for storage. The first floor
was part of the original design right from the beginning\, and it was used
for offices. In 1981\, the entire property was listed at $99\,000 when it
was bought by the Hungarian community. The founding members transformed i
t into its present day shape within a year.\n\nProgram\nThis year we were
not able to celebrate the anniversary of the House with our popular Pork B
BQ dinner\, as we used to in the last few years\, due to the well-known re
strictions imposed to fight COVID-19.\nThe renovation of the OHCC\, we hav
e been engaged in since March\, is almost finished. Therefore\, lest this
anniversary be ignored\, we kindly invite all our members and friends to b
e our guests for a tour around the House to assess the change and to enjoy
  perhaps some ice-cream on Sunday\, July the 12th\, between 13:30 and 16:0
0.\nInside the building a delineated path will lead you from the main entr
y to the back door adjacent to the parking lot. Although it is not require
d\, we strongly advise you to wear a face mask. Unfortunately\, one can on
ly take a casual amble through the hall\, as the furniture is stacked away
. At the exit wrapped ice-cream sticks will be on supply. The parking lot
behind the building will be closed off and reserved for our guests\, who w
ish to meet and chat\, respecting the 2m physical distancing all along. T
herefore\, at the arrival please park the cars on the curbside of Capital
Drive.\nIn case of bad weather we postpone this event to July the 19th.\n
